Solar Snake Repeller FAQ
Here are some of the questions you may like answered.

Q. What area does each unit cover?

Each repeller unit will cover a circle of up to 15 metres radius a total area of approx 700sq mtrs depending on soil quality (Clay is best while sandy soil reduces coverage. You will get a large circle area of coverage 30 metres across So they can be spaced 25 - 30 metres apart for optimum coverage. For more information

Q. Do I need more than one for a small area?
The benefits of 2 are well worth the expense, click here for
more details

Q. What is the main danger period for snakes?
Spring and Autumn!  In Autumn young snakes emerge looking for new territories and older larger snakes will be out trying to establish territories in which to breed, and spend the cooler months. Winter in the southern states is the season least likely to to be a problem with snakes

Q. Will it affect my Horses and Dogs?

NO. The repeller will not affect any other animals, birds or fish. The repellers are used to protect their valuable animals without any adverse affects whatsoever.

Q. Will it keep away other pests?

YES While specially designed repeller units are for repelling snakes, the internal circuitry and signal generator are set to produce a unique pulse that will be felt by snakes triggering their retreat instinct. However, we have has great feedback that they also work on Rats & Wombats when underground, and many reports that they will repel Cane Toads.

Q. Will they keep snakes away from my dog runs?

YES. If you place some repellers around the outside of the area where your dogs are they will certainly help to keep snakes away from your dogs.

Q. How long will they last?

We know of customers that have been using their snake repellers for over 5 years. They are constructed from long lasting durable materials including UV stabilized plastic and corrosion resistant aluminium they will give many years of useful protection.

Q. Are they difficult to install, will I have to get somebody in, to place them?

The units are very easy to install, simply plug together a connector and place into the ground after having made a hole with a crowbar , easily done in about 10 minutes.

Q. Do they need to be in full sun?

No. They will operate perfectly well even in partial shade as long as they have some sunlight ever second day.

Q. What if there is no sun, day after day?

With no sun it depends if the unit had been fully charged prior to heavy cloud cover. Fully charged there is about 48 hours of operation even if the unit were covered with a box, but in even with heavy cloud cover there is enough trickle of light to keep the unit going for at least a week.(It should be rare in Australia for the unit to loose all power) 2 - 4 hours of sun light will bring the unit up to full charge again (another 48 hour operation)

Q. How long should the battery last?

The units contain a re chargeable battery, ( to run the unit at night) Depending on your sun levels at some stage the battery will need to be replaced when it looses efficiency (about 12 - 18 months) with a AA size 1.2V NI-MH 800mAh size rechargeable battery  These are only a few dollars. We suggest replacing the battery every year, with spring the most logical time.

Q. What maintenace is normally required?

Very Little! An occasional wipe of the solar panel to clean off any dirt, in winter we suggest that you take them out and store indoors in areas of cold - heavy snow districts, in warmer districts they can be safely left in place all year round. We suggest replacing the battery every year, with spring the most logical time.

Q. Will fences affect how the repellers work?

Except for concrete walls with a foundation deeper than 100mm, the repellers signal will travel through the ground under fences, concrete paths, sheds and behind retaining walls to drive out any snakes that may be hiding underneath them.
They work very well in long grass areas   No problem with trees, dog kennels,  bushes, chain link fencing.

Q. How can I tell that the unit is operating correctly?

You can tell that the unit is working correctly because when it generates the pulse, it also makes a beep. If the beep starts to fade over time, or if stops it it is time for a battery change.

Q. What warranty do you provide?

The units come with a 90 day warranty to replace or repair any faulty units . But we will do our best to assist if any units malfunction after 90 days. We also carry some spares so if an accident happens please contact us and we will be happy to try and help fix any problem.
